The 1937 Hauser which was first built by master-luthier Herman Hauser for the guitar virtuoso Andres Segovia, is now on display in the Metropolitan Museum in New York. Segovia himself declared it the greatest guitar of its age and, in the elegant form of the Cordoba Hauser classical guitar, is paid due homage. This singular model has been hand-built in California using a seamless blend of traditional and modern methods and by luthiers who were allowed full access to the original model. The wood selection, the panel thickness, the bracing structure... every detail has been echoed and then lightly enhanced with contemporary tweaks to result in the sensitively perfected Cordoba Hauser.

Tradition Meets Technology

This classical guitar has an all-solid construction, starting with a solid Engelmann spruce soundboard and finishing with the solid rosewood back and sides. The cedar neck has been topped with an ebony fretboard and secured to the body via the same Spanish heel technique that Hauser originally used, extending the neck further through the body to raise the stability, durability and resonance. More modern and welcome tweaks include the addition of a dual-action truss rod so the action can be customised and the neck can be corrected as needed, as well as a coat of nitrocellulose lacquer which protects the wood while allowing it to breathe and mature naturally.
